It looks like he’ll be sitting this one out. There’s a new report that says Prince Harry won’t be returning to the UK this month after all, as he’s decided to opt out of a memorial party that will be held in honor of his late mother, Princess Diana.
The party had been planned for July 1st, when her statue was unveiled at Kensington Gardens, but had to be rescheduled because of COVID-19 fears. Here’s what you need to know.
Prince Harry Won’t Be Returning To The UK For Princess Diana Party
While there was some speculation suggesting Prince Harry would be returning to the UK to attend the soiree in honor of his later mother, it looks like it won’t happen. What’s more, Prince Harry’s absence will certainly be seen as a snub to Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The last time Harry was in the UK was back in July, when he flew in for the unveiling of the Princess Diana statue, but quickly left to go back home to California to his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
The event will celebrate the life of the late Princess of Wales, who would have turned 60 back in July. Reports say that the party will have over 100 people on the guest list.
And while it doesn’t appear as though Harry will be in the UK anytime soon, a separate report suggests Princess Diana might be the ‘third wheel’ in his marriage to Meghan Markle.
In a new column for the Mail on Sunday, royal expert Andrew Morton put it this way, “Today for Harry, and increasingly for his wife, all roads lead back to Diana. His mother’s cause-driven life and the tragic manner of her death has not only coloured Harry’s relationship with his family, and the wider public, it has shaped the couple’s world view.”
Morton added, “As the Sussexes embarked on their own journey together through Royal life, not a day went by without a reference, a memory or a decision that related in some way to Harry’s late mother.”
