Prince Harry has been criticised, after a video of him from 2016 resurfaced showing him speaking out against media intrusion, by royal expert Angela Levin.
Prince Harry Mocked Over Privacy Concerns As He Disclosed ‘Wetting His Pants’-‘I Doubt Anyone Wanted To Read That,’ Says Angela Levin
Levin, for her part, was addressing some details that Harry recalled in his memoir, Spare. During the course of that process, Harry divulged that he had an accident and wet himself some time before his initial rendezvous with his future wife, Meghan Markle, on their first date.
He further explained that he was in the middle of a sailing race and was on a boat with no lavatory facilities and he could not contain himself any longer.
With that being said, Harry had this to say: “All I cared about was jumping into the water, washing off the pee from my trousers and getting back to London as fast as possible where I was about to start my real race.”
Those comments did not sit very well with people for the following reasons. First of all, Harry was seen as being a hypocrite for speaking out against those who wanted to know every detail of his life, and yet, the Duke of Sussex was willingly offering up statements in his book.
In a prior video that resurfaced, Harry remarked: “There’s this incessant need to find out every little detail that goes on behind the scenes. It’s unnecessary. The private life has to be private,” to which Levin replied: “I doubt anyone wanted to read in Spare about him wetting his pants.”
The social media response was damning. Large numbers of people made it clear that Harry was exploiting the concept of privacy to use it when he deemed fit. One person wrote: “The guy is an absolute loon and wouldn’t know or respect privacy if it hit him in the face.”
