A commentator specializing in the affairs of the British royal family has cautioned Meghan Markle and Prince Harry that they are headed towards a future of misery and irrelevance.
Meghan Markle Will Become Like Wallace Simpson-Says Tom Quinn
According to Tom Quinn, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may find themselves in a situation akin to the one faced by Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson.
In January 1936, King Edward VIII became the ruler of the UK after King George V passed away.
But, when he was forced to choose between marrying Wallis Simpson or remaining the head of state, Edward decided to abdicate the throne in December 1936.
In 1937, the couple tied the knot and were given the titles of Duke and Duchess of Windsor. However, Edward’s authority and social standing were not restored.
In his comments, Quinn said: “My fear is that Harry will become like Edward VIII and Meghan will become like Mrs Simpson.
“They [Edward and Wallis Simpson] lived in this beautiful house in France, but we know they were desperately unhappy.”
This arrives on the back end of reports that the Royal Family is making preparations for a Coronation event that does not include Meghan and Harry, indicating a possible snub towards the couple.
It has been suggested that the Royal Family may be intentionally excluding the Sussexes from the event.
Negotiations are currently underway between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex regarding their attendance at an upcoming event.
The couple has a number of requests they would like to see addressed, including the extent of their involvement in the event and recognition of their son’s birthday during the weekend.
As per a source, it is uncertain if the Royal Family will accept all the requests made by Meghan and Harry.
Hence, the monarchy is preparing an alternative Coronation plan that excludes the couple. The following comments confirmed as much: “Two versions of the plans [for the day] are being drawn up.
“One includes Harry and Meghan and one doesn’t. Timings are all approximate at this stage, but they are working towards a timetable now.”
Whether things between Harry and Meghan turn sour is anyone’s guess, but based on what we have seen so far, things are looking good.
