In his explosive new book, “Spare,” he discussed how William declined the thought of Harry and Markle joining together with him and Kate Middleton as a quartet because she was ‘an American actress.’
As the relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex grew more serious, Harry informed William that he felt as if their late mother, Princess Diana, had a hand in connecting him to the star of “Suits.”
This statement did not sit well with the Prince of Wales, who consequently became anxious and suggested to Harry that he was going too far. Despite William’s doubts, the couple got engaged in 2017, just a bit over 12 months after they started seeing each other.
But, when it came to making arrangements for their marriage, it just caused a greater gap between the two brothers. William opposed the idea of Harry and Markle getting married at Westminster Abbey, where he and Middleton had exchanged wedding vows seven years earlier.
He also declined the suggestion to pick St. Pauls Cathedral, the place where Princess Diana and King Charles III had wed in 1981, claiming it was too elaborate for their wedding.
When the nuptials created a rift between the siblings, Middleton and Markle’s association also began to deteriorate during the same period. The two ladies had a now-popular quarrel over the bridesmaid dresses for the wedding of the Sussexes, particularly in reference to Princess Charlotte’s outfit.
The response on social media was damning. Large numbers of people were of the view that these revelations were only going to exacerbate the rift between the brothers. One person wrote: “Harry should have listened to his brother.
“Now he’s spewing poison just like his wife. She wanted to isolate him and now he’s completing the process. Nobody in his family will ever trust him again.”
