The Duke and Duchess of Sussex suggested in their interview with Oprah Winfrey that there was one person behind closed palace doors who was concerned about the color of their baby’s skin while Meghan was still pregnant in 2019. Here’s what you need to know.
While reports say that Harry and Meghan had debated whether or not they should out the royal racist, one lawyer says it’s a good thing they haven’t done so. That’s because they could have faced legal action if they did so.

Lawyer Mark Stephens puts it this way to Mail Plus: “First of all the exact words that were said would have to be identified, and the context they were made in. Was it racist or was it just an inquiry? The words may have had a racist overtone but were they intended in that way?”
He continued: “Essentially what you will find is that the individual, if named, may have been able to sue for libel and breach of privacy if it was a private conversation between two individuals where there was a reasonable expectation of privacy and for the contents of the conversation not to be shared with a third party, the media.”
Just this week Piers Morgan took to his Twitter account to make his feelings about Harry and Meghan known, especially after they hinted that there were “concerns” by a royal about the color of their baby Archie’s skin tone before he was even born. The Sussexes haven’t named any names, as Meghan told Oprah Winfrey in her bombshell of an interview that it would be “very damaging to them” if they named the royal at the centre of the story.
Piers, meanwhile, said this about them: “Had they named this person you would have not believed them as there is no evidence, and gone on about it forever. If you moved on to another topic you might stop people from thinking you’re obsessed with those two.”
