Prince Harry and his team have hit back at the Sentable dispute as he walks away from his charity for good. A Charity Commission investigation condemned both sides of the row, as both sides have declared war.
The Probe Found No Evidence Of Bullying Or Harassment
According to the Daily Mail,
“The probe said it could find no evidence of widespread or systematic bullying or harassment, including misogyny or misogynoir at Sentable after its new chair, Dr. Sophie Chandauka, made a series of incendiary allegations about the behavior of the Duke of Sussex and his fellow trustees.”
The two sides failed to resolve their differences within the organization, which had a negative impact on the charity’s reputation.
Prince Harry set up this charity in loving memory of his late mother, Princess Diana. Sentable was established to support children with AIDS in Lesotho.
The row started when Chandauka was asked to step down following disagreements about fundraising. She answered by suing the charity and reporting it to the Charity Commission.
Chandauka claimed that there was bullying on a massive scale within the charity. She also cried racism and discrimination against black women.
In response to the report, the Duke continued to publicly criticize Sentable as a “once brilliant charity” that helped thousands of children when he was a patron.
He said he would find a new way to help the orphans of Lesotho and Botswana. In a statement, the former trustees, including Harry’s mentor, Mark Dyer, said,
“We are disheartened by the way in which the Charity Commission has chosen to ignore key concerns and irrefutable evidence raised with them regarding the leadership and oversight of the Sentable Chair.”
Prince Harry And Prince Sessio Resigned From The Charity In March
The former trustees expressed concern for the future of Sentable and the critical mission Prince Harry and Prince Sessio established in honor of their mothers. Still, they thanked the Commission for the full review.
Back in March, Harry resigned from the charity but said that he hoped that the truth would prevail. He suggested that Sentable should be “put in the right hands.”
Harry acknowledged that his decision to resign from the charity was “devastating” and that Chandauka’s leadership was “untenable.”
Chandauka also brought to light an incident in which, during a fundraising Polo match, Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, brought a Netflix crew with them.
The Duchess of Sussex faced criticism for attempting to turn the event into a publicity stunt, a tactic Meghan frequently employs on almost every occasion.
Chandauka claimed that Harry had tried to force her to make a statement in defense of his wife, as she was being raked over the coals in the press. She said that after she refused, Harry left her a nasty text message.
The Commission also found that the
“delegation of certain powers to Chanduaka was confusing and poorly governed.”
The Sentable row played out in the public eye and discredited the charity’s reputation. Apparently, a new board of trustees has been appointed to the charity.
The Charity Commission concluded that complex disagreements shouldn’t cause those running the charities to overlook their goal and mission, nor should they compromise the initial goodwill and focus on those they aim to help.
