Prince Edward is reportedly set to release a memoir sometime next year shortly before Prince Harry will decide to release his one.
Prince Edward Will Release A Memoir Shortly Before Prince Harry’s Book About Those ‘Who Support The Queen’
According to reports, Harry is set to release a memoir that will not hold back on anything especially since he will touch upon his experience from the point of view of being outside the Royal family.
That has naturally caused concern, as his track record shows, as indicated by his Oprah Winfrey interview. He is not shy in discussing things openly, even if it has the impact of damaging his family relations.
According to the press release that follows, Edward’s book will attempt to do the following: “Edward’s book…will aim to show that the most successful members of the Royal Family are those who support the Queen and don’t compete with her’.”
If these comments are taken to be true, then it is very significant for the following reasons. First of all, it will be a counter move to what Harry is going to do and may ultimately end up minimising the damage that his memoir would have otherwise done.
After all, it would be very hard to speak negatively about the Royal family especially if they were shown to be positive. Secondly, it will naturally have the impact of creating a standoff between Edward’s and Harry’s book.
Although book sales are not things which they are both competing for, the very fact of the matter is that any positive media publicity that they can generate for their respective side is going to be welcomed.
Royal biographer Hugo Vickers, who had an input in writing Edward’s book, had this to say: “The duke had the idea to set down some thoughts about what working for the Royal Family involves.
“In that respect it is not a tell-all memoir. But he has talked about his father and mother and some of the recollections are very moving.”
Time will tell how the memoir is received, and given what we have seen so far, it will pose a challenge to what Harry wants to do. Its release cannot come soon enough.
