President Joe Biden has brought in a new addition into his family by getting none other than a new puppy.
United States President Joe Biden Gets A New Puppy After His Previous Dog Was Removed From The White House Following Safety Concerns
Reports indicate that it is a pure-German-shepherd dog by the name of ‘Commander.’ Bringing a dog into the White House is a long-standing tradition, something which was abandoned by former United States President Donald Trump.
It is claimed that Commander was a gift, given to the President by his brother James Biden and sister-in-law Sara Biden. This was in response to the President recently celebrating his 79th birthday.
And by the looks of it, the dog has gone down very well. In the video here, we can see the President and the dog are getting along well. They both could not be in any better spirits, as the President is heard saying: “Hey, pal. How you doing.”
That video went viral and gained over 2 million views and counting. The response on social media, however, was unenthusiastic to say the least.
A large proportion of people felt that this was not newsworthy, and there were other significant issues that needed to be spoken about. One person on Twitter wrote: “Hi I don’t care about this. Do you have a plan to combat the omicron variant?”
And yet, there is more to this puppy than meets the eye. The President’s former dog Major, unlike Commander, had to be removed from the premises.
This was on the grounds that the animal was no longer safe to have around in light of previous biting incidents that had occurred.
Michael LaRosa, who happens to be Joe Biden’s press secretary, had this to say: “After consulting with dog trainers, animal behaviorists, and veterinarians, the first family has decided to follow the experts’ collective recommendation that it would be safest for Major to live in a quieter environment with family friends.”
It is clear that Commander is still getting used to the surroundings. Therefore, the only question remaining to be answered is how long will this dog last? We will have to see how it plays out.
