Poll Shows Public Want Jeremy Clarkson To Keep His Job Despite His Comments About Wanting Excrement Thrown At Meghan Markle's Face

A poll showed that a majority of people are in favour of Jeremy Clarkson maintaining his position on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, despite the ongoing clash over his contentious Meghan Markle article.

ITV executives have not made any promises to have any additional series of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire with Clarkson as the presenter, apart from the upcoming one that has already been approved.

With that being said, a survey of more than 3000 people demonstrated that 78% favoured the former Top Gear host to keep hosting the quiz program, while only 19% thought he should be terminated. A modest 3% said they were uncertain.

This comes as fans of the 62-year-old dread that he is being shut down after it was announced that Amazon Prime is likely to cease making the presenter’s programs – Clarkson’s Farm and The Grand Tour – by next year.

This comes amid Clarkson’s offensive comments about Meghan, which caused public backlash. He made it clear that he longed to see the Duchess of Sussex being paraded naked in public with excrement thrown at her face.

He subsequently sent a letter of apology to the Sussexes on Christmas Day, although they said the letter was addressed to Prince Harry only. And that is something that did not go down very well.

Historian Dr Tessa Dunlop had this to say: “If you look at the way he actually approached this, he said to Harry, and apparently only to Harry, not to Meghan as well…Secondly the timing stinks.”

The response on social media was in favour of Clarkson. A certain subset of people made it clear that the Sussexes had been engaging in launching attacks too.

One person wrote: “It’s Okay for Harry and Megan to throw the dirt at people but they don’t like it when it’s slung back at them.”
