Even though she’s got her husband home all safe and sound, Peta Murgatroyd is still grappling with the crisis that has unfolded in Ukraine. As many fans know by now, her husband Maks Chmerkovskiy recently documented his return back home after having had to endure the first week of war when Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to invade his homeland. Here’s what you need to know.
Even though she’s got her husband Maks by her side now after his harrowing ordeal, Peta is still in tears each and every day over the ongoing bloodshed and carnage in Ukraine. She took to her most recent Instagram story to share some of her feelings.
Peta Murgatroyd Is In Tears Over The War In Ukraine
“I have had a morning… This is continually breaking my heart. I’m struggling to get through some days,” she admitted. “Sometimes I have great days, other times I have terrible days because I just can’t get this out of my head. I’ve walked those streets. I’ve been there. It is such a beautiful country.”
Even though Maks made it home safely, she told her followers, “it does not mean that we aren’t continually doing stuff to try to help, and we aren’t continually thinking about what is going on there every single day.”
Maksim managed to flee the now war-torn country shortly after Russian military forces invaded Ukraine back on February 24th. He has since been spotted several times with his family in California. Just this past weekend, Maksim appeared to be speaking to someone on the phone while standing on a balcony in Malibu.
He wore a white T-shirt and black shorts. The pro dancer was criticized for hopping on a train and leaving Ukraine for Poland in order to get back home to the United States, as some people believe that he should have stayed behind to fight the war. Even though he boarded a train that was full of women and children, it has been noted that Maksim left Ukraine in 1994 when he was just a teenager and that he now has American citizenship.
