Paris Hilton has revealed how her mother Kathy Hilton avoids talking about her daughter’s reported abuse that had occurred during Paris’ time at a boarding school in Utah.

The incident has been something that has stayed with Paris throughout her life. So much so that she recently testified at a Senate committee about her own experience and urged the authorities to do more to prevent such things from happening to other people.
That is why Paris has been so insistent on trying to change institutions that have invasive methods which are used to deal with so-called rebellious youths.
During an appearance on her ‘Paris in Love‘ show, the star spoke about how her parents were oblivious to what was going on. She said: “When I was 16, we moved to New York. I started sneaking out at night, ditching school.
“My parents got really scared, so they sent me to a boarding school. They didn’t realise it was pure torture camp. I was verbally, physically, emotionally, psychologically abused on a daily basis.”
As a consequence, this is most likely the reason why Kathy does not want to talk about Paris’ trauma, given that she might feel guilty as a result.
After all, regardless of what people may say, the fact of the matter is that by Kathy being a parent, she might harbour some guilt because Paris suffered these things.
Paris added: “I just feel like they [parents] just don’t want to think about it, just like I didn’t want to think about it and didn’t talk about it for 20 years.
“It’s painful to think about, to like, open that up. Every time I bring up Provo, my mom changes the subject.” Therefore, Paris has decided to accept that by talking about such things, she could end up causing some harm to her mother.
In this way, she tries to refrain from speaking about it, but given that it has caused her so much trauma, that has been a hard journey.
