Paris Hilton has spoken about how she has become a lot closer to her mother Kathy Hilton.

The pair did not have the best of relationships, as a result of the trauma that Paris had been through. This had started in her youth after her parents made the decision to send her to a boarding school on the grounds that she was a troubled teen. 

But it was that place where Paris had suffered abuse. And yet, it looks as though with time, she has managed to heal. In an interview on the ‘Tamron Hall Show,’ she said: “We are just so much closer now.

“That was something that was traumatizing to me, [what I] went through, and something that has been such a painful subject for us both to talk about.”

This is welcome news for Paris and can be explained for the following reasons. First of all, Paris is in a very good place with regards to her personal life.

She just recently got married to Carter Reum and their relationship continues to go from strength to strength. Secondly, Paris has managed to speak about this extensively which was shown in her 2020 documentary entitled ‘This is Paris.’

That had allowed her to finally reconcile with her mother and tell the truth over what had happened. Paris added: “Just to hear her say sorry for the first time meant the world to me because it’s something I’ve been waiting for a very long time.”

Thirdly, given that Paris has now been an outspoken advocate in trying to stop institutions that expose members to abuse, she has actively addressed her underlying problems. 

This was most visibly seen when she testified in a Utah court about the experiences that she had been through. In a prior statement, Paris spoke about her delight at being able to make some changes.

She remarked: “After experiencing abuse at Provo Canyon School, it has been incredibly empowering to have advocated for and help pass SB 127 with Senator Mike McKell, a law that increases oversight of the led Teen Industry in Utah.”
