Just four days prior to his sad apparent suicide, Lee Sun-Kyun, best known for his role in “Parasite,” had begged the authorities to keep his inquiry into illegal drug use quiet.
Law enforcement officials said on Thursday that Sun-Kyun’s attorney had asked them to hold the most recent set of interrogations on Saturday behind closed doors. Regretfully, the plea was turned down. One day before Sun-Kyun’s corpse was found, Sun-Kyun’s attorney stressed that the actor wanted any further questioning to take place in private. Sun-Kyun felt burdened to address the claims in a public setting because of the extensive and intense media coverage, which served as the justification for her plea.
Chief of Police for Incheon Metropolitan Area Kim Hui-Jung expressed deep sorrow for Sun-Kyun‘s sudden death, but he stuck to his position that the actor had given permission for the intense questioning to take place.
‘Parasite’ Actor Lee Sun-Kyun Was Begging The Cops Not To Release Info About His Drug Use Shortly Before Suicide
The 48-year-old South Korean actor was reported missing to the police by his manager, and on Wednesday, he was found dead in his car in Seoul. Sun-Kyun was being investigated for his possible role in a drug blackmail scheme. He was believed to have smoked marijuana and other drugs at a local bar hostess’s house. In response to the accusations, Sun-Kyun said he was tricked into taking the narcotics and then blackmailed.
After his final police interrogation on December 23, he was detained for 19 hours before being released. Two individuals, a male and a female, were taken into custody in relation to the drug investigation. It’s unknown whether Sun-Kyun and the other two suspects had a polygraph exam, but the day before his terrible death, he asked the police to give him and the other two a lie detector test through his counsel.
