On Monday, 30 January 2023, a prosecutor from Chicago announced that the allegations of sexual abuse against the singer, R. Kelly, will not be pursued anymore.

This was owing to the fact that he has already been convicted in two separate court cases; this should ensure his incarceration for many years to come.
Kim Foxx, an attorney, declared the decision amid accusations of him of committing sexual assault on four people, three of whom were minors. While that may have been the case, Kim recognised that this was going to be difficult for those who felt that Kelly had something to answer for.
In an official statement, the prosecutor stated the following: “Mr. Kelly is potentially looking at the possibility of never walking out of prison again for the crimes that he’s committed. While today’s cases are no longer being pursued, we believe justice has been served.”
In the year 2019, Kelly was found guilty of criminal charges related to child pornography, racketeering, and sex trafficking. And as part of that process, Kelly has been sentenced to 30 years in jail. He is protesting against those convictions, but if it is upheld, he won’t be able to be released until he is approximately 80-years-old.
The fans on social media were not impressed by the verdict. This was on the basis that regardless of Kelly doing a large amount of time, it was not enough to dismiss the other charges. And in the process of doing so, people were outraged.
One person wrote: “This is ridiculous. He needs to be tried for everything he has been charged with. Regardless of previous convictions,” while another person stated: “Because he already has been sentenced and…”justice has been served.” How can there be too much justice?”
