Oprah Winfrey’s father Vernon Winfrey has tragically passed away at the age of 88.
Oprah Winfrey’s Father Vernon Dies From Cancer Aged 88
Reports indicate that Vernon had been battling cancer, but ultimately, the struggle took its toll. It is claimed that he passed away on Friday, 8th July 2022 in East Nashville. And given that his 89th birthday was coming up in August, it has been very difficult for Oprah to take.
Not only that, but she had recently visited him in order to celebrate the 4th of July festivities. In the video here, we can see that Vernon is in a wheelchair. He has been joined by gospel singer Wintley Phipps, as they all hope that Vernon will be able to pull through his struggles.
The post was captioned by the following comments: “FELT the love and reveled in it until he could no longer speak. Yesterday with family surrounding his bedside I had the sacred honor of witnessing the man responsible for my life, take his last breath.
“We could feel Peace enter the room as his passing.” Vernon leaves behind a legacy that has impacted his community in more ways than one. He was known for being the proud owner of a barber shop for more than 50 years.
And given that he had also seen his daughter become one of the most successful TV personalities in the world, he had managed to achieve what very few fathers could: that being, set a great example for their children, who then followed in similar footsteps.
The fans on social media came out in droves in order to send some warm words to Oprah. And they hoped that she would be able to recover from this going forward. One person wrote: “We are forever grateful to the man who raised you! Sending you love.”
Hopefully, with time, Oprah can deal with this loss and remember the fond times she had with her father. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
