According to claims, King Charles III made a comment about the sound created by the King’s Guards, who are responsible for the Changing of the Guard ceremony.
King Charles III Reacts Angry To His Guards Over Excessive Noise
The ceremony of Changing of the Guard is a customary event that occurs frequently outside Buckingham Palace and St James’ Palace.
According to The Sun, King Charles’ comment was interpreted as a polite suggestion to limit the activity to mornings, rather than a criticism of the guardsmen’s conduct.
The Sun reported that an office memo belonging to the monarch’s inquiry was leaked, containing all the information.
It said: “His Majesty remarked the other day how loud the outgoing sentries were at St James’s Palace in the morning.
“Full marks for vigour and volume, but please could you pass down to those on guard that Clarence House is a residence and so some volume control would be very much appreciated by those inside.”
According to the publication, it is believed that the monarch, who starts working from home in the morning and later goes to Buckingham Palace for official duties, was not fully focused on state matters due to the noise.
Since 1660, the King’s Guard has been safeguarding royal residences and conducting the ceremonial Changing of the Guard.
This entails transferring responsibility for the protection of Buckingham Palace and St James’s Palace to the new guard either daily or four times per week, depending on the time of year.
And yet, this approach from Charles goes on to show the following. First of all, the monarch appears to have a no-nonsense approach moving forward.
This is significant given that he adopted the same approach to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when he wished them the best with their lives overseas.
Secondly, the monarch is not the most popular of figures given that he has been subjected to two egg-throwing incidents during his tenure already.
But this action shows that Charles has not let anything affect his duties. The social media response was far from sympathetic, though.
This was on the grounds that the monarch was coming across as very entitled. One person wrote: “Not only has the King shown himself up to the Army but we the public see him more and more as a spoilt old man.”
