Officials have determined that the fire at NFL receiver Tyreek Hill‘s mansion on Wednesday originated from a child playing with a lighter, as confirmed by a spokesperson for the Davie Fire Department in Florida.
The investigation indicates that a youngster inside one of the rooms at Hill’s Southwest Ranches residence unintentionally started the blaze. Not a good sign when a young child is alone with a lighter!
Details regarding the child’s relation to Hill or the specific circumstances leading to the ignition of the flames remain unclear. The Davie Fire Department representative stated that since the incident was officially classified as “accidental,” no further investigations are underway.
Firefighters received notification of the flames around 1:50 PM ET and promptly managed to extinguish the fire using a water hose, thankfully.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. At the time of the incident, Hill was participating in Dolphins practice, and according to the team, he left early to address the situation. He was seen on-site around 3 PM ET with his wife, expressing concern as officials worked to contain the fire.
Hill had bought the property for nearly $7 million after his trade to the Dolphins in 2022. Despite the recent incident, he is anticipated to play a significant role in Miami’s crucial game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. Right now, Hill has 1,717 yards with 12 touchdowns, already surpassing his stats from last season.
It looks like this will end up being a minor set-back for the NFL star and hopefully there will not be anymore playing with lighters for the young ones inside his home. We’re just glad no one was hurt and everything ended up being okay.
