Netflix's Top Shows Of The Year: 2019 - 'The Witcher' Take Silver

The new year is upon us! 2020 looks to be an amazing year for film and television. Before we get to all the new stuff that’s right around the corner though, we can look back on 2019. Netflix had a great year with many new original series and films that took everyone by storm. Stranger Things third season was huge last summer and left us wanting more at the end of it. The Umbrella Academy held solid all year as well. That was until the release of two shows that took over Netflix released. I think you already know. You season two, and the highly anticipated release of The Witcher finished up the year strong and pushed some other series out of the way.

    Top Three Series On Netflix

It may come as no surprise that the most popular show on Netflix from start to end this year has been Stranger Things. It’s been insanely popular since it’s first season and this past summer saw the release of the third season. However, not only did it capture fans’ hearts but left it wide open for a fourth season and we couldn’t be more excited! What happened to Hopper? Is he really gone or did he get teleported to Russia? These are the serious questions we need to know, and season four can’t get here soon enough!

Perhaps a very late surprise for runner-up is The Witcher. Not surprising as in it’s not good, but surprising that it shot up to second place with only two weeks left in the year. Stranger Things had half a year to gain momentum. The Witcher, on the other hand, was able to capture lightning in a bottle and shoot straight up in a very short amount of time.

Taking the bronze medal is Dead to Me. The show about a blossoming friendship between a widow and a free-spirited lady with a secret. This may have drifted under the radar for a lot of people. The show had a stellar cast and ended as the third most popular show of the year! It’s only in its second season so there’s plenty of time to catch up!

    What Was Your Favorite Series?

The year was filled with amazing stories, and it’s only bound to get better this year. We anxiously await news for more Stranger Things, and it’ll be interesting to see if The Witcher can maintain it’s momentum going into season two!
