Netflix has a new ‘Assassin’s Creed’ series in development, according to Variety. It comes as part of a deal between Ubisoft (developers of the game series) and Netflix. The deal includes live-action, animated, and an anime series, so we may be getting a lot of ‘Assassin’s Creed’ in the near future! The show is currently looking for a showrunner with Ubisoft Film and Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik to serve as executive producers.
Altman said about the project,
“For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ brand into an iconic franchise. We’re thrilled to create an ‘Assassin’s Creed’ series with Netflix and we look forward to developing the next saga in the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ universe.”
Netflix Live-Action Series ‘Assassin’s Creed’ In Development!
This isn’t Ubisoft and Netflix’s first encounter, however, as there is a ‘The Division’ film currently being worked on starring Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal. There were also whisperings of a ‘Splinter Cell’ production series in July, but we’ve yet to hear any more about it.
This series could be a big boost for Ubisoft and fans of the series, assuming it’s done correctly. In 2016, a live-action film starring Michael Fassbender did alright, nearly doubling its money but left a lot to be desired by fans.
