Prince Harry may be trying to steal the spotlight from his father. The Duke of Sussex made a surprise visit to Scotty’s Little Soldiers, The charity helps children who are grieving the loss of their military parent, as King Charles met with military staff and their families.

Prince Harry went to the event and said he was happy to meet the families the charity supports. The visit was comparable to a royal-style engagement.

The Duke is a global ambassador for the charity, and the kids were thrilled to see him. He talked with the youngsters and played games like Flipper Challenge, Bucket Head, and Edible Races. He spoke with at least 50 children and youngsters who lost a parent.

    Prince Harry said,

“It was an honor to meet so many wonderful families Scotty’s Little Soldiers supports. I have long believed in the mission of charity, and I truly believe the work they do to foster community and create space for young people to connect, grieve, but also have fun together is life-changing.”

Harry, who lost his mother, Princess Diana, when he was just 12 years old, advised the children how to cope with grief and loss. He told them it’s okay to be sad but to seek support and work through it.

Georgia Paterson joined Scotty’s Little Soldiers in 2018. Her father, Corporal Norman Stevenson, served in the Royal Regiment of Scotland and committed suicide in 2016.

She said that she felt safe opening up to Harry because of what he went through and that the royal family is so important to her country. She said,

“Talking to someone from the royal family helped me feel more connected to my Dad. It was amazing to be connected to him in that moment.”

    A Subtle Sign of War

The cause is one close to Harry, and in 2022, he recorded a special video message for the children for Christmas. Before Remembrance Day last year, he wrote the kids a letter telling them that “grief is nothing to be ashamed of” and that a community like Scotty’s could really help.

As Harry was with Scotty’s Little Soldiers, King Charles met with military staff and their families at a training base for the British Army.

Some questioned whether it was a coincidence that Harry decided to make an impromptu visit to Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

The King slighted the Duke yesterday, as he had his Invictus Games Thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. In contrast, Charles had the first Buckingham Palace garden party a meager three miles away from Harry’s event.

This party was after Harry’s spokesperson announced to the press that Charles was too busy to meet with his youngest son during his visit to the UK. Today, Harry visited a patron he’d held since 2017 when he was still a working royal.

Perhaps this is a subtle sign of the war between the royal family and Harry, and it’s obviously been brewing for a while. It could be an indication that there is more of this to come.
