HBO Max’s reboot of 90’s juggernaut, Sex and the City is staying in the headlines as piece by piece, fans of the original get to make up their own storylines as casting news continues to drop.
Firstly, as soon as the announcement of the reboot titled And Just Like That… dropped, it was made clear that Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones, one of the original quartet of ladies, will not be part of the series.
Fans began to wonder if Samantha’s cancer came back and took the sex-positive woman down, but producers assured us Samantha was alive, just no longer friends with Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker).
More Sex and the City Reboot casting news: Aidan Shaw (John Corbett) Will Be Back!
In March, David Eigenberg confirmed he had received a call from HBO Max to reprise his role as Steve Brady, the husband (we hope that’s still the case) of Miranda.
Evan Handler, who play Harry Goldenblatt has remained tightlipped about rejoining the ensemble cast, so we are unsure yet as to whether Charlotte is still happily married to husband #2.
This week, however, fans squealed in delight at the announcement from John Corbett that he will be reprising his role as Carrie’s ex-fiancé, Aidan.
Aidan showed up in the (tragic) Sex and the City movie sequel to cause a little havoc to Carrie’s heart, and speculation is now running rampant as to what this means for the relationship between Carrie and husband “Big” (Chris Noth).
It was reported that Noth was not going to return for the reboot, but in an Instagram post, Noth teased fans to “not believe everything the rags say”. I smell a love triangle coming on!
