Model Maitland Ward has given her take on Billie Eilish’s recent comments in which she declared that watching pornography as an 11-year old severely damaged her.

Maitland, for her part, did not hold back on expressing her views.  And she said in no uncertain terms that Billie’s parents had something to answer for.

After all, the singer had been exposed to it as an 11-year old which does suggest that her parents were not doing their job in educating her about such issues.

In an interview with TMZ, Maitland said: “Well first of all, the problem with that is why was she watching violent porn at age 11? Who was watching over her? Like does she have parental figures in her life?”

And yet, it is important to take those comments with a pinch of salt for the following reasons. First of all, it is not clear whether Billie’s parents did talk to her about this issue as a child. Therefore, the only thing we have to go on is speculation.

Secondly, there is even the prospect that her parents may have had a chat, but Billie chose to ignore this. This is only something that the singer would personally know.

Nevertheless, Maitland continued to double down on her beliefs and called out her parents by comparing it to abuse. She added: “She should be blaming her parents, that’s abuse. A child should not be watching porn ever at that age.

“She said she was watching – I heard – like abusive porn or violent.” That is why Maitland felt that Billie’s comments had the impact of unfairly harming the porn industry.

As such, just because Billie may have had a negative experience, does not necessarily mean that this was going to be the case for everyone.

Maitland’s following comments confirmed as much: “But it’s sad that she would put a sort of stigma on the porn industry just because she had a personal experience that was very abusive and detrimental.

“It’s her own thing, it’s not like it’s the porn industry’s problem.” It will be fascinating to see whether Billie does respond to this.
