Don Lemon of CNN has issued an apology for stating that Nikki Haley, a candidate for president, shouldn’t advocate for competency tests for senior politicians because she was “past her prime” as a woman.
Lemon made his remarks during a discussion about Nikki Haley’s suggestion that politicians 75 and older be subject to mental competency exams on Thursday’s episode of CNN This Morning with co-hosts Kaitlan Collins and Poppy Harlow. In an address on Wednesday, Haley announced her candidacy for president.
His tweet in response to the criticism that he was sexist read, ‘The reference I made to a woman’s ‘prime’ this morning was inartful and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it.
CNN’s Don Lemon Is Getting Push Back After ‘Inartful Comments’, Nikki Haley FIRES BACK
In a tweet that included a clip from the video segment, Haley herself reacted to Lemon’s remarks by declaring, “It’s always the liberals who are the most sexist.” This is just Lemon’s most recent statement to raise questions. He once questioned a female co-host who was stumbling over her words several weeks prior and recently was caught on video interrupting Collins repeatedly.
CNN employees were upset by Lemon’s remarks regarding yet another dubious episode involving the troubled host. Several employees have also voiced internal complaints about Lemon himself. It looks like Lemon could be on his way out of the show with so many complaints weighing against him.
Lemon has completely started walking back on his comments and it’s just another tarnish against CNN after they have had so many issues. Several people reacted to Lemon’s comments, including Pete Dominick who listed several Democratic women and their ages when they ran for president and it’s obvious that Lemon was targeting Haley because she was a Republican.
