Miley Cyrus has written a letter to Hannah Montana to celebrate 15 years since the show had first aired.

Miley, for her part, blew up onto the scene as the show ultimately aided her transition into music, given she was playing a high school pop star. Naturally, there were many fond memories. In a post to her fans on Instagram, Miley shared an emotional letter. It said: “Since the first time I slid those blonde bangs over my forehead in the best attempt to conceal my identity.
“I didn’t know then that is where you would live forever. Not just in [my heart], but [in the hearts of] millions of people around the world.” While it was just a TV show to most people, for Miley, it was something more. She opened up on the life experiences she had garnered throughout the years. And even if that did lead her to some controversial moments, she did not regret it as it prepared her for the challenges that may come her way.
She added: “Although you are considered to be an ‘alter ego,’ in reality, there was a time in my life when you held more of my identity in your glove than I did in my bare hands. You and I have been through it all together, my friend. We’ve shared many firsts. A lot of lasts. Ups. Downs. Tears and laughs.” The show has, though, typecast Miley.
It is easy to forget that Miley has forged a successful career in her own right since then. Take, for example, her solo career. She has had several major hits around the world, including ‘It’s the Climb,’ ‘Party in the USA,’ and ‘We can’t stop.’ Nevertheless, she has had no regrets and feels she owes the show everything for her continued success: “Hannah, I hope you hear me and believe those words are true. I am indebted not only to you, Hannah but to any and everyone who believed in me from the beginning. You all have my loyalty and deepest appreciation until the end. With all sincerity, I say, thank you!”
