According to a source, Meghan Markle purportedly expressed a desire to become a “celebrity” instead of serving the public, which was the expected role.
Meghan Markle Wanted To Be A Celebrity Over Serving The Public-‘Meghan Hated The UK,’ Says Daniela Elser
Royal expert Daniela Elser alleges that Meghan was let down after discovering the realities of living in the royal family, as she was accustomed to being treated as a celebrity before meeting Prince Harry. Being unable to maintain that status was a source of great discomfort for her.
In her comments, Daniela said: “When you are an American celebrity and you mix with celebrities in the US, you just get used to everyone around you saying how marvelous you are.
“Meghan hated the UK because as a member of the royal family she realized she was going to be treated not as a celebrity but as a servant of the people.” Much in the same way, in his book Gilded Youth, Tom Quinn wrote that Meghan disliked being obligated to follow instructions and attend various events as part of her royal duties, which she found to be both ceaseless and mostly meaningless.
The author remembered having a conversation with a staff member from Kensington Palace who had a vivid memory of Meghan and claimed that she was taken aback by the challenges of being a working member of the royal family.
His following comments confirmed as much: “She was a global superstar but was being told what she could and could not do, what she could and could not say. She hated it.” The response on social media was much the same.
A certain subset of people were of the view that Meghan’s single mindedness meant she was not able to adjust to the firm. One person wrote: “Mini-minor-celebrity-wannabe…never a Royal. Thank God for Megxit and FrogXit and the worldwide privaceehh tour.”
