The Courts granted Matthew McConaughey a 5-year restraining order against a crazed fan stalker. This person has been harassing him for years.
McConaughey and his lawyer were at the hearing, and the restraining order will be in effect until October 2028. She did not show up for court and requested a continuance, and the judge promptly denied the request because they had already given her more time and did not see a reason to delay the proceedings.
Matthew explained to the court that the woman was delusional and posed a threat to others who would be in attendance. He was especially unnerved that the event ticket the woman purchased afforded her a photo opportunity.
Matthew’s Stalker Believes the Two of Them Are in a Relationship
The fan has been after the star and sent him bizarre e-mails and letters. Not to mention frivolous lawsuits designed to get the Academy Award-winning actor into court so she could be in close contact with him. She also believed that she and McConaughey were in a romantic relationship.
This stalker has been after Matthew since April 2022. She finally crossed the line by attempting to appear at the book event held at Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles. She traveled hundreds of miles to see him.
The woman recently purchased a ticket for the book signing and meet and greet for McConaughey’s new kid’s book, “Just Because.”
When she arrived, the police were waiting for her and told her that Matthew filed for a restraining order against her and escorted her off.
Matthew McConaughey Ensured the Safety of his Family and Patrons
He wanted to ensure the safety of everyone attending the event, especially the children and families who were coming and could potentially be put in a dangerous situation.
Matthew was also, of course, looking out for the safety of his wife, Camila, and their three children, Levi, Vida, and Livingston.
He didn’t want to take the chance that the woman stalking him for years might harm his family. Especially if the stalker’s agenda was to have a relationship with him.
Matthew’s Book, “Just Because”
Matt’s stalker was not allowed on the premises, so everyone was safe and enjoyed being introduced to the book.
McConaughey’s picture book, “Just Because,” isn’t just for kids; adults can also enjoy it. The simple wisdom of the book is good for everybody, and you can learn a lot from it.
Some of the fun lines of the book include such witty gems as,
“Just because they don’t hear you doesn’t mean you have no voice. Just because you follow doesn’t mean you are not a leader. Just because I’m sitting still doesn’t mean that I’m not busy. Just because you got the gold doesn’t mean that you’ve won.”
Just Because is meant to explore the different contradictions of life and how everything is connected, even if those things are opposites. It is based on McConaughey’s philosophies about life.
Matthew explained his desire to write this book, “As my kids grow up and I keep learning how they’re measuring the world around them, I think it’s inevitable that I’ll follow up with some fun more approaches to living that we can all enjoy.”
The picture book features beautiful illustrations by Renee Kurilla. There is also an audiobook version for those who like to listen.
