The musician had already created controversy prior to this incident when he decided to smash his guitar during his concert at Madison Square Garden following an altercation with an employee operating the sound.
So when MGK decided to smash a champagne glass on his head at the afterparty, and then post about it on his social media, people did begin to worry whether he was in the right frame of mind.
With that being said, MGK wanted to offer an explanation and clear up any misunderstandings that people may have had at the time. During an interview with Page Six, the star said: “You know when you clink a champagne glass with a fork to kind of get people’s attention?
“Yeah, I didn’t have a fork. So I just clinked it on my head.” In hindsight, it would have been easier for MGK to have done something else. And as he is a musician, he would have had the perfect opportunity to use his vocal chords by shouting at the top of his lungs and getting the attention of those near him.
But now that this has happened, does MGK regret it? Well, given by his following comments, it suggests that he would take it all back. He added: “I feel like s—” Despite his explanation, the fans on social media felt more weirded out than ever. In the process of doing so, they did not hold back on their feelings towards MGK.
One person wrote: “Because he’s a freaking idiot and wanted some attention from the media. That’s why he did it.” It is safe to say that MGK should avoid incidents like this going forward. After all, it does nothing to increase his fanbase at all. In fact, It may end up doing the opposite.
