Love Is Blind has been getting a lot of backlash lately. The show takes singles and puts them in pods to make lasting connections that could lead to marriage. In fact, the cast members basically fall in love with one another sight unseen.

Another claim is coming out about how the show is cult-like and a cast member, Nick Thompson, is ready to spill the tea. Let’s find out what he is saying about the show.

Love Is Blind: Nick Speaks Out

It didn’t take long for Nick to speak out about how the cast is treated on the show. In fact, Danielle Ruhl, who he married, claimed that she told the producers that she was having a mental break and they pushed her to continue filming.

She feels as if her marriage to Nick failed because of how the cast was treated during Season 2. They had no one there to help them get through the tough times, but the cast was told they would have mental health professionals there to talk with them.

Nick recently did an interview with Insider and told his fans, “I recently met someone who was in a cult for 10 years, and this is like that.” Nick explained that the producers would take their cell phones and he even admitted that he lost about 15 pounds while filming.

He told fans that there was excess filming and a lack of food and water the entire time they filmed for the show. He is still making claims that the production company’s “extreme exploitation” on the set was pretty intense, but he would try to do another reality show in the future.

Ever since he appeared on Love Is Blind, Nick has been making some big waves in the world of reality television. In fact, he recently founded the UCAN foundation which provides mental health and legal assistance to those who appear on reality shows.

He felt that something needed to be done about the conditions that Love Is Blind is filmed in. He added, “You are not going to exploit people forever.”

Nick shared a post about UCAN and wrote, “Having lived the mental health struggles myself and seeing firsthand the impact it had on others, my goal is to ensure adequate mental health support pre, during, and post-production for all cast members.

At UCAN, we’re dedicated to creating a future where reality TV cast members have the support they need for their mental and emotional health. Through partnerships with mental health and legal experts, we aim to address the exploitation that exists behind the scenes of reality TV shows.”
