Many MAFS want to know Austin and Jessica’s secret to a successful marriage. The pair recently told In Touch magazine how they feel their marriage was able to work throughout filming. Apparently, they were determined to tackle issues together instead of having divided mindsets.

“Both of us approached this to be a team,” Austin said. “It was very attractive right from the start to see Jess taking this seriously and that motivated me to be better as well.” Jess concurred, stating, “I have learned to be more patient and vulnerable. Marriage is about compromise … Sometimes that means doing things on a different timeline then I normally would, and that’s OK!”

Though the couple is similar in many ways, they also have personality traits that balance each other out. Austin said, “We both had the same core values, wanted the same thing out of life.” Jess added, “I think Austin and I balance each other really well and make a good team. … I am more high-energy, and Austin is laid back.”
Although these two are clearly perfect for each other, Jessica admitted she doesn’t think she would have found such success without the help of the MAFS expert match-makers. Jessica revealed, “I don’t think I was necessarily looking for those traits, which is why I think I was having a hard time in the dating world.”

Austin and Jess’s determination to build a lasting marriage was solidified from the beginning. Austin said, “I have always been someone that goes all out when I commit to something. I may not have known what I was in for, but I knew I was going to stay committed to the marriage [at least until] Decision Day.”
