La Reina del Sur spoilers for Thursday, July 18th bring a massive twist in the Mexican elections, a surprise for Cayetana Segovia (Luisa Gavasa), and a new mission for Teres Mendoza (Kate del Castillo). If you missed it, let’s catch you in in today’s La Reina del Sur recap.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Girl of surprises
Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra) is doing well in Spain, and surprising both Charo (Carmen Flores Sandoval) and her Yaya. She and Charo are making marmalade in the kitchen when Cayetana comes along and scolds Charo for all her stories.
Well, Sofia is making marmalade while Charo assists. Charo has no idea about half of what Sofia is saying, and neither does Cayetana. Sofia explains that her mom taught her how, and she can make over 50 kinds.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Cambio de planes
As Francesco Belmondo (Raoul Bova) is in the bathroom awaiting his transfer elsewhere, he overhears a shocking twist in the election scheme.
It seems that Erik Sheldon (Eric Roberts) has gotten orders from the president to take Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) out of the running. Alejandro Alcalá (Mark Tacher) is shocked by this. He argues that they’ve put a lot of work into this, and all that will be for nothing. Erik begs to disagree. Epifanio’s more a liability at this point, and they want Alejandro to be the candidate instead. He’s shocked, and tries to get out of this. Erik isn’t having it. Alejandro’s superiors believe that he is the only one who can take Epifanio’s place and think the story will be a real winner—the obvious winner tragically taken down while expecting a child, whose brother-in-law bravely takes his place.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Vacation disaster
Alejandro should’ve waited to bring Danilo Márquez (Emannuel Orenday) to Washington for that getaway. Still reeling from the plan change and, dare we say, feeling guilty about taking being part of the assassination of Genoveva Alcalá’s (Kika Edgar) man, he’s in no mood for fun. He gets testy and ends up leaving Danilo alone while they were having a meal out.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Face-off
Teresa is on a mission today and to accomplish it, she needs Manuela (Paola Núñez). They use Sergio (Eduardo Pérez) as a lure to get their hands on her. Once she enters the apartment, she finds him tied up and gagged. She’s also suddenly at gunpoint, along with Sergio.
Teresa confronts Manuela about trying to kill Sofia, then demands to know where Francesco is.
While they argue about who did what to who (and Sergio pipes in to accuse his tía of being a murderer, as he heard her voice on that incriminating recording), Teresa continues to try getting the information. Manuela’s stubborn, so Teresa makes her believe that Teresa has just killed Sergio. This really fires Manuela up and she manages to escape. This leads to a big chase through Washington that leaves Manuela dead, and Teresa at risk of being considered a terrorist. Jonathan Peres (Tiago Correa) and Ray Dávila (Alejandro Speitzer) are also mixed up in this, as they helped. The trio races off before anyone catches them red-handed.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Finding Lupo
Using the little info Manuela actually gave up, and at Teresa’s insistence, they set off to rescue Francesco before he’s taken to some secret training facility.
They have Jonathan get a very small craft that dumps something all over the van transporting Francesco. When the van crashes, Teresa and Ray jump into action and shoot open the door. They then order the guard inside to release Francesco. The guy complies so fast, we shudder to think what would happen to national security if this dude was real and had serious secrets. Francesco even mocks him as a “mama’s boy” before departing the van and escaping with Teresa.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Done deal
Zurdo Villa (Flavio Medina) is offered a chance to save his skin today. In exchange for confessing to funding Mariano Bravo’s (Eduardo Santamarina) campaign, Zurdo will be given the chance to “escape” and avoid an American prison. He eventually agrees and signs a statement.
Meanwhile, he’s still tracking Teresa and Mariano is planning Zurdo’s death. He reasons dead men can’t make confessions.
