In your Friday, July 12th La Reina del Sur recap, Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo) and Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra) are reunited, but it doesn’t feel so good. Meanwhile, the plot against them heats up. If you missed your La Reina del Sur spoilers, let’s catch you up..

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Unnecessary drama

Paloma Aljarafe (Agata Herranz) has been filling in the useless, annoying character quota that Sofia was too cool for. As the show winds down, she’s not giving up that role willingly. As she, Ray Dávila (Alejandro Speitzer), and Rocío Aljarafe (Sara Vidorreta) are getting some food, she and Ray are left alone a minute.

This seems to be the perfect time in their eyes to rehash their non-relationship he’s been cheating on her throughout. He tries to make nice, but she doesn’t care. He’s shown his true colors and knows he wants nothing to do with a woman pregnant by another man. Even if that man is dead.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Mission screwed?

Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) is nervous today. He hasn’t heard a thing from Teresa, and doesn’t think that bodes well. Jonathan Alcalá (Mark Tacher) assures him no news is good news.

After Epifanio goes inside to place a call to Teresa for an update, Jonathan calls his boss to fill them in on what’s up. Bottom line? He’s to “Kill the messenger”. He also talks to Manuela, aka: Kira (Paola Núñez). He’s not happy about her actions at the police station and reminds her what cops do to cop killers. He wants the targets eliminated and Manuela out of here by noon. She agrees. Jonathan is listening through the tap and goes after Manuela, while getting Ray to watch after Teresa and Sofia.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: One in the same

After learning their little sister was found, the Aljarafe sisters visit Cayetana Aljarafe (Luisa Gavasa) to tell her that Sofia was found. She’s safe with Teresa, and she and Charo (Carmen Flores Sandoval) will be able to head back to Spain shortly.

While they talk, Cayetana makes a slip that inspires a bunch of flashbacks. These help Rocío realize that the detective their grandmother hired to find Teresa was actually Francesco Belmondo (Raoul Bova), or Lupo the kidnapper. Rocío can’t believe the man was under their noses all that time, and she never realize where she’d seen him before. Cayetana looks shocked.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Slick move

While all that was going on, Jonathan was in hot pursuit of Manuela. But Manuela’s a woman on a mission, and isn’t going to be stopped easily. She apparently has realized she’s being tracked and places the device in a truck to thrown Jonathan off.

Eventually Jonathan realizes his error and leaves, heading to where he knows Teresa to be.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Reunited

There’s been a long-awaited reunion today, as Sheila (Cuca Escribano), Marcela (La Conejo, played by Carmen Navarro), and Ahmed (Abdelali el Aziz) get the chance to meet Sofia. They’re enchanted by the girl, and Teresa is overjoyed to have her daughter back in her arms. There’s just one problem.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: It doesn’t feel so good

Sofia is still dealing with trauma associated with the knowledge of her mom’s past. She insists on knowing why Teresa killed Teo Aljarafe (Miguel de Miguel). Teresa’s friends manage to talk Sofia into saving that conversation for another time, as they need to go. Sofia agrees and runs inside the building to retrieve her cat.

She’s also warning Francesco that her mom is here and he needs to stay hidden. While the pair are saying goodbye, Teresa had gotten ansty and realized the kidnapper was likely inside the building. She follows Sofia in and gets a very unpleasant surprise at seeing her supposed love there.

She confronts Francesco and soon the truth is out. Teresa is furious and wants to kill him, but Sofia looks at Francesco as a father figure. Mother and daughter fight, with Sofia begging Teresa not to leave her fatherless again. Teresa can’t even, and congratulates “Lupo” on the great job he’s done brainwashing Sofia.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: No time

Francesco mans up and is more than willing to pay for his crime in any way Teresa sees fit. But he wants to warn her first. He lays out the DEA’s plan to use him to set Cayetana up as the leak that points enemies Teresa’s way. Only the only enemies they actually intended to find her were Epifanio.

He explains that the new administration wanted to interfere in the Mexican election and chose Epifanio as a puppet. The problem now is, that there are kill orders on any witnesses now that Zurdo Villa (Flavio Medina) has been caught. He begs Teresa to hear him out and believe him before it’s too late.
