Your La Reina del Sur spoilers for Thursday, May 30th have Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo) needing some luck, and Epifanio Vargas’ (Humberto Zurita) family feeling cheated. If you missed the action, let’s get to your La Reina del Sur recap highlights.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Damage control or Trouble in Paradise

Epifanio is desperate to get through the hurdle that Carmen Martínez (Patricia Reyes Spíndola) put in his way, having framed his own granddaughter for murder just to get Carmen to agree to a divorce. Today, he takes his plan a step further by appearing on Cara a Cara to scoop its host, Marietta Lancaster (Anna Ciocchetti). He goes on air to say that Carmen has mental issues, and they’ve been divorced for fifteen years. He even provides the paperwork to prove it. Going the extra mile, he announces his engagement to Genoveva Alcalá (Kika Edgar), something Marietta was going to reveal on her next program. He plays it up well, setting Genoveva up as his “rock” and someone who’ll make a great First Lady.

Back at the campaign office, Alejandro Alcalá (Mark Tacher) is working overtime. Since Epi went public about the relationship with his sister, Alejandro wants the staff to make sure glowing comments trend on social media. After all, his sister is a beloved figure there. There’s one issue, though.

It seems Alejandro has a male lover, something hidden from the public. His man’s tired of living in the shadows and wants big changes in their relationship. You know, like maybe being a priority once in a while instead of getting pushed aside for work. We’d expand further on him, but since Alejandro suggested they meet at night at the building’s roof, we’re thinking he’s already on his way off the show.
As for Genoveva, she’s been watching the whole thing with Antonio Alcalá (Eduardo Yáñez), and is actually falling for this public lie. Her father, however, is not and goes off on her about supporting a man who will destroy their country, thereby ruining the family name. His only hope is his son marrying a nice woman and going for office himself to fix the damage. Good luck with that, buddy.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Cheated

Meanwhile, Carmen is watching this whole thing and is furious at Epi’s insinuations. The guy’s a lying sleaze, but anyone who’d go back to a man who treated her like Epi did, in our opinion, might need therapeutic guidance. Especially since she thinks it’s God’s mission for her. #JustSaying. Virginia Vargas (Vera Mercado) and Jimena Montes (María Camila Giraldo) think she should let this go already.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Still the only adult in the room

We’re pretty sure Oleg Yasikov (Antonio Gil) is wondering what he’s done wrong in life. He’s anxiously following the action at Zurdo Villa’s (Flavio Medina) party when Ray Dávila (Alejandro Speitzer) wants to take a bathroom break. Considering Zurdo’s looking tense, Oleg thinks this isn’t the best time, but Ray doesn’t care. Oleg tells him to at least hurry things along, then goes back to watching the action.

Instead of going to the bathroom, Ray chats up Paloma Aljarafe (Agata Herranz). He scolds her for smoking in her condition, but she says she may not keep the baby. We’d argue that’s a good reason to exercise caution anyway, but whatever. This leads to her giving her sad story about Juan (Pol Monen), which then leads to them going at it on a couch. Seriously?

Back in the command room, Oleg panics when Teresa is accused of wearing a tracker and seeks out Ray. He finds them going at it and his expression screams, “I’m surrounded by stupid kids.” We love this grumpy Russian. Anyway, he orders Ray back to the command room because of the discovery. What happens after? We’ll get to that in a minute.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Fast talk

Teresa bluffs her way out of this mess by claiming it’s a fake signal designed to feel him out. After all, she’s gone to a stranger’s home. Plus, she has to learn how good he is before she’s willing to possibly partner up with him. She then doubles down on her bluff by taking off her bracelet and dumping it in a glass. She claims that’s what’s holding the transmitter and then pours water over it.

Back at the command room, Oleg sees her take the bracelet off and realizes what she’s doing. He orders Ray to cut off the signal to the transmitter on his cue. As soon as the water starts filling the glass, he gives the order and the feed goes dark.

At Zurdo’s, he’s appeased after a call from one of his men that the signal is dead. Things then get friendlier with him and Teresa. He decides it’s time for surprise #2 for the night. He pulls out a small box and hands it to her. She looks inside and is shocked to see a diamond ring. He says he bought it after learning it was found at Raimundo “El Güero” Dávila Parra’s (Rafael Amaya) crash sight. Teresa is visibly moved, as she realizes her lost love must’ve been planning to give it to her the night he was killed.
