La Reina Del Sur Recap 4/23/2019: Season 2, Episode 2 “Cuando es mala, es mucho mejor”
Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) is stressing to Alejandro Alcalá (Mark Tacher) that his opposition has peaked in the polls. Alejandro thinks that will turn, and Genoveva Alcalá (Kika Edgar) wants to change his image. She doesn’t get the chance to talk much about it, because they get rid of her to talk the Cayetana Segovia (Luisa Gavasa) situation. Epifanio doesn’t think Cayetana has money for a hitman. He’s so wrong. She’s on the phone with one as they speak. She sent Siso Pernas (Miguel Ángel Blanco) all the info over a month ago, but he never got it. Oops. Later on in the episode we see Siso and company in Spain getting ready to come for Teresa, who he says brought shame on their name and they’re going to get revenge. We think he should start with whoever gave him that shameful name to start with… it sounds a little too close to another word that wouldn’t exactly inspire fear.

Anyway, unaware that hitmen are on the way, Epifanio Vargas moves forward with his plan to use Teresea to secure his presidency. He makes a plan to meet with Teresa to give his demands for returning her daughter. Before he allows Alejandro to meet with her, though, he warns the guy men fall in love with her practically on sight, and she’s like poison to them. Most are already dead. And we’re suddenly worried for old Pedro waiting in Italy. Alejandro claims she’s not his type. Right. So, basically, he’ll be falling hard any episode now.
La Reina Del Sur: This close…
On the plane, Francesco Belmondo (Raoul Bova) wants to know what’s going on with Sofia, and Teresa wants to know why he assumed something was wrong with her. He just assumed, and she warns him not to interrogate her, because he doesn’t know her well. He plays on her pain by showing off his own kids pics and going on about his hard divorce. Teresa admits her daughter was kidnapped and that’s why she’s going back to Mexico. She takes some time alone in to call Willy Rangel (Christian Tappan), accusing hm of backstabbing her. He’s confused, and wants to meet.
Meanwhile, Sofia shows she’s smarter than César “Batman” Güemes (Alejandro Calva) and company. She fakes being unconscious after just pretending to take the pill they’d given her last time, then uses glass she’d hidden on her after another slick move yesterday to cut the zip tie that’s holding her cage closed. She sneaks out through a small opening and the bad guys finally catch on. They discover it fast, just stopping her from coming across mom, but not before she almost takes the plane down. Yes, this kid is awesome.
La Reina Del Sur Season 2: Queen in training
After the plane right, Sofia’s taken to a place where a so-called Nun that Sofia calls out right away for wearing heels will watch over her. Ha! Her name is Morgana (Norma Angélica), como la bruja. Morgana thinks she has a lot to teach Sofia, and with a firm hand. Sofia’s ordered to pose for a picture but she won’t smile. She wants to record a video instead. Batman calls her ‘your majesty’ and insists on a picture instead. She won’t smile, so he takes it anyway and says she came out ugly. The looks this kid is giving them could kill. Wait until she’s older, people…
La Reina: Cuando es mala, es mucho mejor
Against her protests, Francesco brings Teresa to the meeting with Epifanio, where he gets roughed up a little more than planned. She calls Epifanio’s men off and demands to know where he daughter is. All he cares about is his plan. He informs her she’s going to infiltrate Zurdo Villa’s (Flavio Medina) organization and destroy him so the funding to Epifanio’s opposition will end. She’s not for it, but he gives now you-know-what’s, and says he’s holding all the cards. She’ll only get her daughter when she does as he says. She swears she’ll to take out everyone who shares his name, if anything happens to her daughter. She also threatens this will never end for him if her daughter learns of her past, or her real name. Because when she’s good, she’s great. But when she’s bad? She’s much better.
After the meeting, Willy arrives and Teresa pulls a gun on him, demanding to know how much he was paid to betray her. She shoots at Jonathon, then says Willy got her daughter kidnapped. Willy points out all he did for her, and swears he didn’t sell her out. He doesn’t know who did. She explains she was ordered to make her worst enemy the president of Mexico if she wants to see her daughter again.
Also… it seems Teresa may have even more enemies than we’ve already seen, because Willy warned Jonathon not to tell his girl, Manuela (Paola Núñez) that they’re going to help Teresa, as she’ll blame her for her sister’s death. Jonathon asks who is, but Willy’s not telling. Besides that, Erick Sheldon (Eric Roberts) had told Willy to forget about her after Willy warned there was trouble with Teresa. We think he’s shady and after her, too. We’ll see…
