La Reina Del Sur 2 Recap 5/1/2019: Season 2, Episode 7 “Al fin, Moscú” (Moscow, at last)
Cursing the saints: Welcome to Russia
Teresa, meanwhile has been traveling to Moscow, Russia in search of Oleg Yosikov (Antonio Gil). All she has is an old address from years ago, and she’s disappointed to find the location is now a dance school. The teacher approaches her, and Teresa is relieved that the woman speaks Spanish. Teresa asks about the former occupants, and learns that the former Yosikov home was donated to them, as the wife loved the art of dance. She can’t be of any help in finding Oleg, though, because no one wants anything to do with the Yosikov family. She won’t explain why. Teresa is being followed the whole time, by the way, as she leaves in search of her objective. At one point, she seems to catch on, but we’ll see if she did catch on.
La Reina Del Sur: You want to what?
Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) is totally blindsided by the campaign his team’s devised to connect him with millennials. He’s not impressed, because he thinks they don’t even vote anyway. We’ve got to agree with him on his assessment of their idea to make a series of cartoon shorts with him solving problems being dumb, but we’ll grant it’s unique. What other candidates are being turned into cartoon super heroes? They also want to change his image, to which he’s more resistant. After all, being a guy of the people is his schtick.
He asks Alejandro Alcalá (Mark Tacher) why they even have to bother with this, as he’s still counting on Teresa taking out his competitor’s funding. Alejandro reminds him that he wanted a plan B, and this is it.
Later on, he changes his opinion of the image change while he’s being pampered. Dear God, there’s a potential evil diva on the way…
La Reina Del Sur 2: That’ll kill a party…
Mariano Bravo (Eduardo Santamarina) is the guest of honor at a celebration, where he proves he’s the total politician by suggesting a trip to Vegas with a woman who isn’t his wife. He thinks she’s naughty for bringing that up, but they can’t get into that now because Faustino Sánchez Godoy (Lincoln Palomeque) has arrived. He can’t wait to be the friend of the next president of Mexico. First though, he wants to meet their host, Zurdo Villa (Flavio Medina). We see their host is a bit of an ass, as he makes the help lick up the contents of a broken bottle of Tequila off the floor while he, Faustino, and Mariano talk.

Later on, Zurdo sings a song in honor of the candidate, and we’re guessing there’s a Telmundo narco novela rule stating all creepy drug lords must sing, because this happened in another one. The fun and games doesn’t last long, though, because the policia federal have locked on to their location. Zurdo and some of his men manage to escape on motorcycle, but one of them is lost when a laser blast (seriously) knocks a guy off his bike. Zurdo and the rest, including Faustino, eventually lose the cops.
Zurdo has a big estate filled with exotic stuff, including an actual heart (his bisabuelo’s) that he can feel inspiration coming off of. His family has an infamous history (and collection) Faustino’s impressed by, although he’ll do without touching the heart, thanks.
Later his attention turns to pictures of Teresa on what looks like an altar. He informs Zurdo, who has a big thing for her, that he was once Teresa’s partner and made a ton of money off her until she disappeared. He describes her as a baddass, and the type they don’t make anymore. After listening to a corrido Zurdo wrote specifically for Teresa, Faustino promises that if she ever returns, he’ll be sure to introduce them.
La Reina Del Sur: No heart to Incomplete heart
The queen in training, Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra) has been busy making a mural, in which she’s hidden her kidnapper’s names, much to Francesco Belmondo’s (Raoul Bova) appreciation. He thinks she’s insanely talented, and he’s right. She brags that she knows how to hide messages in things well, because her mom taught her and he’ll never find their names.
While they talk, she notices something over his heart and asks what it means. He says it means that there’s nothing here, and she agrees with his lack of heart. He thinks hers isn’t whole, either, as she’s never met her dad. He also claims she’s alone, both of which upset Sofia and she argues that her mother is coming for her at any time.
Things get slightly more tense when she insists her mother is going to find out how he’d been spying on them and snuck in Sofia’s room, then he’ll be running scared. He claims he’ll be long gone by then, and tells Sofia her punishment is over.
Well that escalated quickly
Juan (Pol Monen) and Paloma Aljarafe (Agata Herranz) are getting close in his place when his mother, Triana (Aroha Hafez), walks in. She wants to know who the girl is, and gets mad when she learns Paloma is Cayetana’s granddaughter. She thinks Cayetana is a scourge and gets even angrier when Rocio Aljarafe (Sara Vidorreta) arrives. He refuses to make Paloma leave the house, and Paloma won’t kick her sister out because Rocio has something to tell her. When they’re alone, Rocio fills her in on what happened with Teresa, their half-sister, and tries unsuccessfully to get Paloma to leave. She thinks her sister is just with Juan to escape their grandmother. Paloma might regret that, because Juan later forces himself on her.
