King Charles is set to make his first public appearance since his cancer diagnosis at Easter Sunday service as Prince William and Kate Middelton will not be in attendance.
King Charles Has Been Cleared By His Doctors For Easter Service
His Majesty will be at this weekend’s Sunday service in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle with Camilla and other royal family members.
The Palace said,
“Their Majesties, the King and Queen, go together with other members of the royal family, will attend the Easter Matins Service at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, on Easter Sunday.”
While it is true that Charles will be able to participate in Easter events, it is said that royal aides will make sure that the crowds will be smaller.
Royal expert Danielle Stacey explains.
“Charles has minimized his contact with larger crowds to reduce risks as he continues his cancer treatment. While we’ve seen the King conduct small audiences at Buckingham Palace, he’s not attended any large-scale gatherings since his diagnosis, such as the reception for the Korean War Veterans last week, the Commonwealth Day service, and the memorial for the late King Constantine last month,”
King Charles’s attendance at the Easter Sunday service is a significant development because the King has been cleared by his doctors to go to church with his family. Charles has been undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer since early February.
Traditionally, William and Kate would attend church with their children, Prince George, Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte, and the other royal family members.
However, this year will be different. Kate recently revealed her shocking cancer diagnosis to the world. Her health is paramount right now, and she should not be attending royal events.
Queen Elizabeth Made Easter Service A Nationwide Tradition
Kate recently shared that she was diagnosed with cancer following a successful abdominal surgery in January. She has been undergoing preventative chemotherapy.
Easter service is very important to the royal family. The ritual has taken place in England since 600 AD, and Queen Elizabeth made it a nationwide tradition when she began her reign.
Last year was the first time the royal family went to the service without Queen Elizabeth, who passed away in September 2022.
The late Queen only missed a handful of Easter Sunday services throughout her 70-year-long reign. 2022 was the first one she missed in decades due to her increased struggle with mobility issues.
Queen Elizabeth started the Easter holiday on Maundy Thursday, the Thursday before Easter Sunday. She traveled to various cathedrals and distributed coins or gifts according to the number of years she had lived.
Typically, Easter Sunday service has as big a turnout as the traditional Christmas Day. There is an outing in which we get to see the members of the royal family and their children. They walk the grounds of Windsor Castle.
While King Charles, his son William, and his wife Kate will not be able to see each other for Easter, they are keeping in close touch.
Charles is proud of his daughter-in-law for possessing enough bravery to announce her cancer diagnosis to the world. Charles said he was
“so proud of Catherine.”
for her courage and dignity.
