King Charles III gave an emotional address for his first Christmas speech following the passing of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.
King Charles III’s Christmas Speech Will Honour Queen Elizabeth II
The monarch spoke from St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, the same place where the public had their last view of the Queen’s coffin being lowered into the ground at her funeral. It is anticipated that he will deliver an emotive address regarding Queen Elizabeth II at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Christmas Day.
A snapshot from the taping of the pre-recorded message exhibited the King in jovial spirits donning a bright blue blazer, a lively tie and a printed pocket square. It can be viewed as a tribute to his mother.
Traditionally, Queen Elizabeth II has given her yearly Christmas addresses from a seated position behind her desk in Buckingham Palace. However, her son, Charles, is standing for his address this year, leading to much interest about the subject of the 74-year-old’s speech.
An aide connected to the royals commented that the choice to record the address in St George’s Chapel was indicative of how the King planned to maintain his late mother’s customs while introducing a unique personal flair.
The verbal address was captured two days ahead of the highly controversial Prince Harry and Meghan Markle documentary on Netflix, ending with a barrage of criticism against the Royal Family.
The royal residence has not shared any prior information regarding the speech, and it is uncertain if Charles will include any references to Harry. The fans on social media made their position very clear.
A certain subset of people made it clear that the speech would not be the same, given that the public had become used to Queen Elizabeth II giving them. As such, members of the firm would not be the same. One person wrote: “I think you can tell that Queen Elizabeth II’s death really knocked the stuffing out of her children.”
