The Palace is facing a significant challenge as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s presence at King Charles III’s Coronation is dependent on certain conditions.
Harry And Meghan’s Key Coronation Demands Revealed
Westminster Abbey has extended an invitation to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join a congregation, however, the couple has yet to confirm their attendance.
The current state of the relationship between the couple and the Royal Family is at its worst, adding more difficulty to resolve several important matters.
The celebration coincides with Prince Archie’s birthday, but there is speculation that the Sussexes’ older child and their daughter Princess Lilibet were not included in the guest list.
According to an insider, the inclusion of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children in the ceremony was a major issue.
However, the source clarified that the children’s participation was never a point of disagreement since it is customary for small children to be excluded from large royal events due to their restlessness and tendency to throw tantrums.
The date of May 6th, which happens to be the day of the Coronation, is a major concern for the Sussexes.
This is because it coincides with Archie’s fourth birthday, and they are worried about missing out on spending time with him on his special day.
While the family considers the Coronation to be an important event, Harry and Meghan are hoping for some acknowledgment of their son’s birthday if they attend.
Sources have indicated that in order for Harry to attend, he requires a direct meeting with his father and brother, King Charles and Prince William, to address their problems.
But given that the day will be filled with royal obligations, there are question marks over whether this is realistic.
After all, the last time that the Sussexes attended a royal event, Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, the pair requested the same thing, with suggestions that a 15-minute meeting only happened with the late monarch. And yet, this is something that appears to be on Harry’s mind.
The source added: “Harry has been very clear and his position hasn’t wavered – he isn’t going to come if he feels the atmosphere will be as toxic as it was during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and funeral.
“He’s said he wants to reconcile with his family and it’s their call, but so far nothing has changed.”
