The rapper stirred up mass controversy after he vowed to go ‘def con 3’ on Jewish people. Things were exacerbated after he initially confirmed that he was ‘absolutely not’ sorry for the comments during an interview with Piers Morgan.
As a result, several major companies decided to distance themselves from Kanye, including Balenciaga and J .P Morgan. Much in the same way, Kim has now made her stance very clear.
In a post to her fans on Instagram, Kim said: “I stand together with the Jewish community and call on the terrible violence and hateful rhetoric towards them to come to an immediate end.” Those comments are very significant for the following reasons.
First of all, Kanye is in a divorce battle with Kim, and as such, those comments could work against him. They could play an integral part in the custody arrangements of their children, as Kanye has made it very clear that he wants to have a bigger input on his children’s education.
Secondly, there is a clear divide between the rapper and the Kardashians. This sentiment from the statement by Kim was also echoed by Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner and Kris Jenner. Lastly, in any event, this further reinforces the idea that Kim will not be getting back together with Kanye.
The fans on social media, however, questioned the authenticity of Kim’s comments. A subset of people were of the view that she was simply speaking out in order to gain attention.
After all, her prior track record seemed to suggest that she has not actively been involved in speaking out against anti-Semitism. One person wrote: “Kim k is just some s**tty person that act like she cares to gain attention.”
