The awards are held every year in order to pay homage to those that have made a significant contribution to American society. And given that the awards have been held for 23 years and counting, the fact that the couple were in attendance was a major milestone in and of itself.
But in typical fashion, the Kardashian ended up turning this into a rather formal date night. In the picture here, we can see the couple sitting very close together as they look on. Kim is wearing a gown-type dress, while Pete is donning all black.
But rather than being up for an award themselves, the pair were there in order to support those that were being honored. And one of those included none other than Jon Stewart.
The former had received a lifetime achievement award for humor. This was very special indeed if we look at the other attendees that included Dave Chappelle and Jimmy Kimmel to name a few.
Aside from showing support, Pete and Jon do have a friendship together. They came across each other on the comedy circuit, and Jon did have plenty of things to say when it came to Pete’s feud with Kanye West.
In his comments at the time, Jon remarked: “I think he’s doing as best you can in that situation when you’re dealing with something that’s so explosive and loaded, with all kinds of other things. I just love that kid.”
The response on social media was very brutal towards Pete. People questioned his attendance there, as they felt that he was hardly somebody that was befitting for such an occasion. One person wrote: “He’s not even C list.”
