The main reason why sources are credited with saying this is because Kate was saddened by the fact that the departure had a significant impact on Prince William’s mood.
It is no surprise then, thereafter, that William was apparently outraged by Harry and Meghan’s controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey as it rubbed further salt into the wounds.
Although it had the impact of saddening Kate in the short-term, the very fact of the matter is that it has only gone on to bring the couple much closer together.
A source said: “Everything with Harry and Meghan has been hugely stressful, but if anything, it’s pulled [her and William] closer together.
“She was upset about it because [William] was so upset. Seeing her husband so distraught was tough.” But that was not the only reason why Kate would have felt like this.
After all, we only have to look at the contents of Meghan’s interview with Oprah to see why. She infamously claimed the media had accused her of making Kate cry in the run-up to her Royal wedding with Harry.
However, Meghan stressed that the opposite had happened. Therefore, the fact that Kate did not speak about this ultimately led to tensions between her and Meghan.
Having said that, though, the turbulence within the Royal family shows how well Kate is at coping with adversity.
The recent health problems with Queen Elizabeth II has led to reports that William and Kate would be taking on more leadership roles within the Royal family.
Naturally, Kate is not going to let family feuds get in the middle of what she should be doing. With that in mind, the ball is firmly within Harry and Meghan’s court over how they want to proceed.
Having similar interviews like they did with Oprah are not going to make all sides reconcile. And given that Kate has had a lot of time to process what has happened, it is clear that she is not going to be budging too.
