Kate Middleton isn’t a narcissist, unlike her sister-in-law Meghan Markle. At least that’s what one royal expert and author would like for everyone to think as the Duchess of Cambridge has apparently learned her lessons from Princess Diana and has done a better job of applying them to her royal life. In a new interview with The Times of London, royal expert Penny Junor suggests Kate Middleton is much more effective in getting her message across, even though she doesn’t say as much as someone like Meghan Markle does.

While Kate is no stranger to acts of compassion, her low-key approach to getting her work done might be more effective than that of Meghan’s, says Junor.
“When Harry and Meghan talked to Oprah, they were more concerned about their own welfare; it was all about them and that’s been their narrative all along,” says Penny Junor. “But there’s a difference between service and self-service. I feel real service is doing things selflessly for others. I think that’s what Kate understands.”
What’s more, Junor says that Kate has learned her lessons from Princess Diana, and that’s probably why she’s managed to outlast most others in the royal family.
Apparently, the Duchess of Cambridge learned an important lesson from Diana, whose popularity began to outstrip her husband’s during her peak.
“Charles was Prince of Wales and not used to having the limelight taken from him,” she says. “That caused huge problems. Kate is being very careful to ensure she doesn’t outstrip William. She is not on an ego trip, and her head has not been turned by celebrity. Kate is a working woman doing a job. She didn’t leave the human race when she joined Planet Windsor.”
