Kate Middleton is in the hospital for two weeks after planned abdominal surgery. Also, the Palace has announced that King Charles will also be admitted to the hospital within the next week to be treated for BPH (Benign Prostate Hypertrophy).
William is Taking Care of Kate and the Kids
As soon as Kate was admitted, William sprung into action. He’s busy caring for the kids, Prince Louis, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte. He’s also back and forth to be by his wife’s bedside.
Kate Middleton had successful abdominal surgery after admission to The London Clinic in Marylebone. Kate’s abdominal surgery was non-emergent and was pre-planned. She will be staying in the hospital for the next 14 days.
Once she is released, she will return home to Windsor. Her family will be supporting her with her recovery, which will take two to three months. The palace reports that Kate is doing well.
Besides her Royal family, Kate has her parents, Mike and Carol Middleton, her sister, Pippa Matthews, and her brother, James Middleton.
Prince William will also not undertake royal duties or engagements while his wife is in the hospital and during the initial period when she first comes home.
The Palace apologized to everyone affected by Kate’s postponed engagements. She looks forward to resuming her royal duties once she is fully recovered, which could take until around Easter.
William and Kate will refrain from international travel within the next few months.
William and Kate had scheduled a high-profile visit to Italy to meet Pope Francis, but it looks like they will be calling that off.
The trip was to trumpet the couple’s inaugural trip on behalf of the Government as the new Prince and Princess of Wales.
Kate’s Condition is Non-Cancerous, But the Details About Her Condition Remain Private
King Charles and Queen Camilla have visited Italy twice in the past fifteen years, meeting Pope Benedict XVI in 2009 and Pope Francis in 2017.
The Palace also confirmed that Kate’s condition is non-cancerous, but they refused to say what she was being treated for. It seems the royals have a tradition of being tight-lipped about their private life.
Well, that is unless you are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Understandably, Kate wants her personal and medical information to remain private.
The typically vibrant and healthy Kate Middleton was admitted to the hospital in recent years during her pregnancy after suffering from extreme morning sickness.
Kensington Palace said it would only give updates if there were new or significant developments to share. They are unapparent about these things.
Shortly after Kate’s surgery was announced, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles III would be undergoing treatment for BPH.
The two health updates came about an hour and a half apart. There are several unanswered questions about the King and the Princess’s health.
Royal expert Phil Dampier had this to say about Kate’s surgery:
“I wish the Princess of Wales a speedy recovery after abdominal surgery. We don’t know the details, but clearly, this was serious as she will be in the hospital for a fortnight and needs up to three months to recover.”
