According to reports, Kanye West will not face any charges for tossing a woman’s phone onto the street.
Kanye West Will Not Be Charged With Battery
As per the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office statement, which was acquired by TMZ on Wednesday, 15th March 2023, the woman’s phone sustained negligible harm.
Reportedly, only the cover around her phone, which was worth $30, was affected by the throw. West’s alleged victim chose not to pursue legal action against him, as the rapper and designer was being investigated for battery.
The incident involving West was captured on video and became widely popular. West was leaving his daughter’s basketball game when he noticed someone taking his picture.
It is not certain whether the person was a paparazzo or a fan, but West decided to get out of his car and approach her while she was filming him from inside her own vehicle.
Kanye was alleged to have said the following: “Y’all ain’t gonna run up on me like that. Stop with your cameras.”
The Grammy winner grabbed a woman’s phone and threw it in the air when she argued that she had the right to film him due to his celebrity status.
He also confronted another photographer, but it is not clear what he said to make him stop. Later, he approached a group of paparazzi who had been filming the incident.
After getting into his car, the Yeezy founder drove up to them. Kanye then reportedly stated: “You want me to be running up on your kids’ games like that?
“Everybody needs to stop when I see my kids. If I need to see my kids, you can’t photograph me. It’s called human rights.”
The photographer claimed that he had the right to take a picture of West as they were on a public street, but West gave him a stern look and left with his supposed wife, Bianca Censori, sitting next to him in the car.
The response on social media was one of outrage. A large number of people made it clear that Kanye should have at least gone out of his way to make sure that the woman’s property was returned to her in the original condition that she had by paying for the damage.
One person wrote: “He could have offered to pay for her phone. She did not do anything illegal. I would not have let this go. The rich or famous aren’t that special, and don’t have special rights. Nor do the infamous.”
