Kanye West has terminated his partnership with Gap, as the rapper seeks to move on to the next stage with his clothing brand.
Kanye West Terminates Partnership With Gap-‘It’s Time For Me To Go It Alone’
According to The Wall Street Journal, Kanye’s legal team claimed that the company breached their agreement by not releasing his apparel in the manner that was agreed. But rather than trying to resolve this dispute behind the scenes, Kanye has had enough.
This is a significant step, especially since he has been in partnership with the company for around 8 years. Not only that, but the star is also involved in a dispute with Adidas, as his deal with that company is up until 2026.
But it seems that Kanye has given fans a glimpse of the future, as he let everybody know that he wants to cut out the middleman. In his comments, he said: “It’s time for me to go it alone. It’s fine. I made the company’s money.
“The companies made me money. We created ideas that will change apparel forever…Now it’s time for Ye to make the new industry. No more companies standing in between me and the audience.”
This is not the only thing that Kanye has in the pipeline, though. He has spoken about how he aims to open his own campuses. They will be named after his late mother, Donda. They will allegedly include farms, dorms and homeschools which is another attempt to expand his brand.
The fans on social media welcomed this move. This was an opportunity for Kanye to have full creative control over the clothing that he puts out. And by the looks of it, people have already gotten excited by the news. One person wrote: “I know I’m tardy to the party on this, but frickin GOOD!”
