Gap has decided to take quick steps to remove all their Yeezy products from their stores and from online.
Gap Decides To Remove Yeezy Products From Their Stores
This action arrives at the back end of the company ending ties with Kanye West last month. The company has followed in the footsteps of other major brands, such as Adidas, Balenciaga and J.P. Morgan by distancing themselves from the rapper.
With that being said, Kanye has to now adopt another venture in order to push forward his brand. In an official statement given by the company, they said: “In September, Gap announced ending its Yeezy Gap partnership.
“Our former partner’s recent remarks and behavior further underscore why. We are taking immediate steps to remove Yeezy Gap product from our stores and we have shut down YeezyGap.com.”
This should not come as a surprise anyway, as Kanye was the one who initially terminated the partnership in the first place. He made it absolutely clear that he felt the company was not giving him enough creative control by not going ahead with the alleged promises of releasing some designs he approved of, as well as opening Yeezy stores.
Nevertheless, this could provide Kanye with an opportunity to rebrand himself moving forward. After all, if creative control is something that he was looking to have, then this provides him with an opportunity to start things afresh.
And yet, given the damage that has been done to his reputation, there are question marks over whether or not Kanye can bounce back. The fans on social media did not have a lot of sympathy for Kanye.
A certain subset of the fan base welcomed this move, as they felt that he was no longer relevant following his controversial comments. One person wrote: “Now can we stop talking about him?”
It is fair to say that Kanye is facing major turmoil with his business deals, and that is not going to change anytime soon.
