Judge Declares Danny Masterson's Rape Case A Mistrial

A mistrial was declared in actor Danny Masterson’s rape trial.

The charges in question relate to three counts of rape as, Masterson, 46, could have been sentenced to as much as 45 years in prison if convicted. The incidents were alleged to have taken place at his home in Hollywood Hills from the period of 2001-03.

Because of COVID-19, two jurors were dismissed. As for the rest, only two voted for guilty on the first charge, four wanted guilty on the second charge, and five wanted guilty on the third charge. The new trial date has been set for Monday, 27th March 2023.

And this is what judge Charlaine F. Olmedo had to say: “I find the jurors hopelessly deadlocked.” Despite the failure to get a unanimous decision, Masterson’s reputation has still been damaged.

Because Masterson was a member of the Church of Scientology, like the three women, the church’s protocols meant they were not keen on pressing charges. However, the women have all since quit the church after going public with the charges.

In contrast, the lawyers for Masterson sought to expose the flaws in the accounts given by the three alleged victims. They claim that the victims’ accounts varied and that they spoke with one another before telling the police about the incident. And yet, the attorneys for the plaintiffs are confident of getting some redress.

Attorney Alison L. Anderson confirmed as much: “They remain hopeful that Mr. Masterson will experience some criminal consequences for his vile conduct and are eager to now pursue their claims in civil court and seek redress for the nightmare they have been made to suffer.”

The only thing left to do is let the authorities investigate the matter and come to a conclusion based on all the evidence in the new trial. Time will tell how it all plays out moving forward.
