The couple, for their part, are currently locked into a huge defamation case that has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. And as part of that process, both sides have suffered huge attacks on their reputations. This begs the question: why did the pair decide to stay together for so long?
Well, according to Johnny, he did try to walk away only to be kept by the emotional blackmail that Amber was exerting on him. In a statement to the court, he said: “Ms. Heard had spoken of suicide on a couple of occasions.
“Many times when I would try to leave, she would stop me at the elevator with the security guards, crying, screaming, you know, ‘I can’t live without you.” But when Johnny did pluck up the courage to leave, Amber was allegedly not going to be having any of it.
And in fact, she had reportedly tried to make his life as uncomfortable as possible. So much so that Johnny recalled becoming anxious at the thought of Amber’s moods which were very volatile indeed.
He added: “She would arrive in her nightgown [at my house], screaming in the parking lot in front of my house. Screaming, heavens, it’d be 4 in the morning, 3 in the morning.”
These comments are obviously just one side of the story that the courts will have to consider, but if they are taken to be true, then Amber’s legal team will have to come up with a credible defence or face the prospect of paying the sum of $50 million, the amount Johnny has sued her for defamation.
The response on social media was in favour of Johnny. A large proportion of fans viewed Amber’s conduct as being manipulative. One person wrote: “Emotional blackmail to stop you from leaving.”
