It’s not a full house unless everyone is in it, right? Just like many fans out there, John Stamos says that he was rather disappointed that actresses Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen didn’t return for the Full House reboot Fuller House on Netflix.

The two fashion designers and twin sisters played Michelle Tanner in the original Full House series, which filmed back in the 1980s and early 1990s. Here’s what you need to know.

John Stamos made his comments while appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. He says that both he and the rest of the cast were disappointed but at the same time understood why the actresses did not want to return to the show.

John Stamos Says That He Was Disappointed Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen Didn’t Return For Fuller House

“I remember Lori [Loughlin] saying to me, ‘They won two or three CFDA Awards [Council of Fashion Designers of America]. That’s like winning two or three Oscars. If you won three Oscars, would you come back and do this?’ I was like, ‘Eh, maybe not,'” he reasoned.

The Olsen Sisters played Michelle Tanner in the original “Full House” sitcom which aired from 1987 to 1995. John Stamos played Jesse Katsopolis, their uncle.

John also said that filming the series finale of Full House was very emotional because he didn’t get any forewarning from the producers.

“When we did the original series, we got canceled, and we knew like a week before, and we were just doing a regular last show. We never really did the final show. So, it was pretty emotional,” he said.

In a separate interview, John Stamos also opened up about how getting sober helped put things into perspective for him in his life.

“The sobriety helped. My mind got very clear,” John told Howard Stern. “I realized I just had to put everything into it.”
