This year has been a whirlwind, no doubt. However, for Joe Rogan, it may have been the best year of his life. Since signing a deal with Spotify for a reported $100 million, how would Rogan not enjoy himself? Apparently, he’s loving Austin, Texas, and says that one of the best parts about the city is the live music.

He recently had Gary Clark Jr. and Suzanna Santo on his podcast and remarked about how “fucking amazing” the live show was and how personal Antone’s Night Club is. While Rogan is having the time of his life, a lot of his fans aren’t thrilled about his move to Spotify.

“I had a great time on the podcast with my wickedly talented friends @garyclarkjr and @soozanto, now available in video and audio on @spotify.
One of the many nice things about being in Austin is the live music scene. Being able to see Gary up close and personal at @antonesnightclub was fucking amazing, and Suzanne jumped on stage for a song too. It had been a long time since I’ve seen someone play in the flesh, and it was pretty incredible.”

A lot of viewers don’t like Spotify and have used Rogan’s social media as a way to express their discontent, writing, “Once the podcast moved to Spotify, it ceased being JRE. The spirit of the show is gone.”, “Rogan leaving YouTube is the most 2020 way to end 2020”, “Dude bra go back to your roots of YouTube”, “Man I used to love watching the podcasts. I don’t do Spotify so fuck it.” and “No one watches this anymore. Why leave YouTube?”.

While YouTube was a lot easier and downloading the app to our televisions and everything was nice, Spotify does have its perks and it is still video. It’s all a matter of opinion, and I must say, I did prefer YouTube, but this is just the way it is now and Rogan has made his decision. Watch or don’t watch, it doesn’t look like he’ll be coming back to YouTube anytime soon.
