Jimmy Kimmel Becomes Emotionally Overwhelmed Following The Texas School Shooting-‘Once Again, We Grieve’
The event killed 19 children and two adults before the defendant Salvador Ramos was apprehended by the authorities. And on a talk show that is usually light-hearted in nature, Kimmel’s emotions reflected the mood that was going across the country at a time where there are serious question marks over the laws concerning gun control.
In the video here, we can see that Jimmy has opened the show with his monologue. However, the audience is not present in the room as he attempts to convey the seriousness of the incident.
And as he does so, the talk show host becomes overwhelmed with tears. Kimmel is then heard saying the following: “Here we are again on another day of mourning in this country. Once again, we grieve for the little boys and girls whose lives have been ended and families destroyed.”
Kimmel clearly had strong feelings and in a show that is usually devoid of politics, the star took this moment to address the US leadership and demand that something be done to tackle these atrocities.
So when it came to the issue of gun control, Kimmel called out the US government for getting into cahoots with the National Rifle Association. In the process of doing so, he urged the American public to not stay silent on this matter.
He added: “They’re listening to those people who write them checks…unless they do something drastic, then let’s make sure that not one of any of these politicians ever holds office again.”
As of now, United States President Joe Biden has indicated that something needs to be done by way of gun regulation. Whether that does end up materializing in the form of checks is anyone’s guess. But one thing for sure is that any loss of life regardless of whether it is at the hands of guns is tragic.
